✓ Drink lots of water as this will hydrate your skin and prepare it for the facial.
✓ Keep with your normal skincare routine so your skin therapist can see how your skin is on the daily.
✓ Don’t drink too much alcohol a day or two before as this will dehydrate your skin and thin your blood vessels that may cause an irritation as the facial takes place.
✓ Try not to use skincare with retina or retinol within a three-day window as these products may cause an irritation with facial products.
✓Don’t eat oily foods within a two-day period.
✓ Drink lots of water as that will continue to keep your skin hydrated.
✓ Stay out of the sun if possible for the remainder of the day.
Post- Facial Dont’s:
✓ Try not to touch your face for the remainder of the day and not be tempted to irritate any acne that has been worked on by your therapist.
✓ Don’t take too hot of a shower or go into a spa/sauna for 72 hours.
✓This will open the pores and may irritate your skin. Try not to wear much makeup if any at all for the rest of the day.
✓Let your skin breathe and enjoy the natural glow!

AFTER CARE / POST TREATMENT:
✓Use caution applying any other topicals post nano infusion for the next 24 hours. Actives to avoid include, but are not limited to: retinols, glycolic acid, prescription grade topicals, etc.
✓Strenuous exercise should be avoided for 24 hours following nano infusion.
✓Depending on client (Fitzpatrick classification, reactiveness) some redness may occur on areas with thin skin, such as the forehead, bridge of nose, around the eyes, etc.
✓Redness may occur but will subside within 24-48 hours.
✓ Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity should be avoided for the first 48 hours.
✓ Direct sunlight exposure is to be completely avoided immediately following the treatment (including any strong UV light exposure and tanning beds). If some sun exposure cannot be avoided, first apply sunscreen with
an SPF of 30 or greater. Sunscreen (with at least a SPF of 15) should become a part of your daily skin care regimen as your skin will become more sensitive to the sun as a result of this treatment.
✓ Cleanse your face with water or a mild soap substitute
✓ Gently moisturize your face
✓ Do NOT apply any type of glycolic acid or exfoliation products as this can severely damage or irritate the skin during the entire healing process.
✓ DO NOT peel, rub, or scratch your skin at anytime, whatsoever. This WILL cause damage and compromise your results as well as possibly cause severe scarring.
✓ If you experience painful areas of the face, contact your skin care therapist immediately, especially if you are prone to cold sores. Any blisters that form will need to be reported immediately.
✓ In the event that you may have additional questions or concerns regarding your treatment or suggested home product/post-treatment care, you must consult your therapist immediately.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion uses an adjustable applicator head that removes dead surface skin cells and initiates cellular turnover at the dermis and epidermis levels in a safe controlled manner. This approach respects the integrity of the skin and promotes even healing. Maintaining even cellular growth on the surface aids in the youthfulness of the skin’s appearance.
Microdermabrasion has been used to treat aging and sun-damaged skin, some types of acne and acne scarring, altered pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and stretch marks. Results may include improved skin tone, fewer breakouts, diminished appearance of scars, even skin color, refined skin pores, renewed elasticity, and a healthy glow.
What should you expect during your treatment?
✓ Prior to your first microdermabrasion, as your esthetician, I will perform a thorough skin analysis. If microdermabrasion is not appropriate, you are informed during this session and an alternative treatment may be recommended instead. If microdermabrasion is for you, maximum results are obtained by participating in a series of treatments plus following a home care regimen.
✓ To further enhance your outcome, we require that you use products specifically directed toward obtaining correction. Your current daily regimen and skin care projects used will be reviewed, and you will be instructed which products you should continue to use, and will be advised on any recommended additions to your regimen. We recommend keeping regular appointments and carefully following your home care regimen to support your results.
✓ As your esthetician, we take every precaution to ensure that your skin is well hydrated and calm prior to leaving each session. However, you may experience excessive dryness or even some peeling between sessions, which may or may not be normal. Always check with us if you have any concerns after the treatment. More sensitive skin may experience some redness after the first couple of sessions. This normally goes away after 2 to 3 hours.
✓ After your treatment, sunblock must be worn at all times and tanning beds should never be used. You are making an investment in your face: therefore, it is to your benefit to continue to protect it long after your series is completed.
Is satisfaction guaranteed?
✓ The majority of my clients receive satisfactory to above average results with a series of treatments. Maximum results are highly dependent on your age, cumulative sun exposure, health, menopause, lifestyle, genetic traits, general skin condition, and your willingness to follow recommended protocols.
✓Be aware that many changes may occur deeper within the skin over time. I find that when participating in a series of treatments, along with a commitment to your daily skin care regimen, noticeable differences may indeed be the outcome. You may see a reduction of fine lines and a softening of deeper wrinkles, reduction of discoloration, softening and possible reduction in scars, and an overall improvement to the skin’s tone and appearance. To continue the maintenance of your skin after you complete your treatment(s), I may inform you of long-term age management programs.
Although it is impossible to list every potential risk and complication, the following conditions are recognized as contraindications for microdermabrasion treatment and must be disclosed prior to treatment.
✓ Active infection of any type, such as Herpes simplex virus or flat warts.
✓ Active acne
✓ Recent use of topical agents such as glycolic acids, alphahydroxy acids and Retin-A Any recent chemical peel procedure
✓ Uncontrolled diabetes Eczema, dermatitis Skin cancer
✓ Vascular lesions
✓ Oral blood thinner medications Rosacea
✓ Tattoos (not effective) Pregnancy
✓ Use of Acutane within the last year
✓ Family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation Telangiectasia/erythema may be worsened or brought out by skin exfoliation
✓ Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity should be avoided until all redness has subsided.
✓ Direct sunlight exposure is to be completely avoided immediately following the treatment (including any strong UV light exposure and tanning beds). If some sun exposure cannot be avoided, first apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater. Although sunscreen should be a part of your daily skin care, for a minimum of two weeks, a sunscreen with at least a SPF of 15 must be applied.
✓ Cleanse your face with water or a mild soap substitute
✓ Twice daily followed by a mild sunscreen
✓ If a site other than the face is treated, you only need to cleanse once daily, followed by sunscreen.
✓ In the event that you may have additional questions or concerns regarding your treatment or suggested home product / post-treatment care, you must consult your therapist immediately
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. An esthetician grade, sterile blade is stroked along the skin at an angle to gently “shave off” dead skin cells from the epidermis. Dermaplaning also temporarily removes the fine vellus hair of the face, leaving a very smooth surface.
As with any type of exfoliation, the removal of dead skin cells allows home care products to be more effective, reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone and assists in reducing milia, closed and open comedones, and minor breakouts associated with congested pores. Dermaplaning can be an effective exfoliation method for clients that have couperose (tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin), sensitive skin or allergies that prevent the use of microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Due to the contours of the face, certain areas of the face (such as the eyelids and nose) are not treatable using this method.
What should you expect during your treatment?
✓ We will perform a thorough skin analysis prior to your first dermaplaning.
✓ If dermaplaning is not appropriate, you will be informed during this session and an alternative treatment may be recommended instead.
✓If dermaplaning is not contraindicated, maximum results are obtained by participating in a series of treatments plus following a home care regimen.
✓We will review your current daily regimen and skin care products, advise you on which products you should continue to use, and recommend any additional products or changes to your regimen to enhance your desired outcome.
✓ We take every precaution to ensure that your skin is well hydrated and calm following each session. However, you may experience excessive dryness or even some peeling between sessions, which may or may not be normal. Always contact us if you have any concerns.
✓ More sensitive skin may experience some redness after the first couple of sessions. This normally goes away after 2 to 3 hours. Dermaplaning may cause minor superficial abrasions which may not appear until a day or two following your treatment. If this should occur, please contact me so that I can do a post-treatment follow up with you.
After your treatment, SPF 30+ MUST be worn at all times. Tanning beds should never be used. You are making an investment in your skin: therefore, it is to your benefit to continue to protect it long after your series of treatments is completed.

Although it is impossible to list every potential risk and complication, the following conditions are recognized as contraindications for dermaplaning treatment and must be disclosed prior to treatment.
✓ Active acne
✓ Active infection of any type, such as herpes simplex or flat warts.
✓ Any raised lesions
✓ Any recent chemical peel procedure
✓ Chemotherapy or radiation
✓ Eczema or dermatitis
✓ Family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation
✓ Hormonal therapy that produces thick pigmentation
✓ Oral blood thinner medications
✓ Recent use of topical agents such as glycolic acids, alpha-hydroxy acids and Retin-A
✓ Skin Cancer
✓ Telangiectasia/erythema may be worsened or brought out by exfoliation
✓ Thick, dark facial hair
✓ Uncontrolled diabetes
✓ Use of Accutane within the last year
✓ Vascular lesions
Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity should be avoided until all redness has subsided. Direct sunlight exposure is to be completely avoided immediately following the treatment (including any strong UV light exposure or tanning beds). Although SPF 30+ should already be a part of your daily skin care, after dermaplaning, SPF 30+ must be applied daily to the treated area for a minimum of two weeks. Twice daily cleanse the treated area with a post- treatment cleanser, followed by a serum or treatment cream and follow with SPF 30+ sunscreen.
✓ The hair will need to be AT LEAST ¼ of an inch long to be removed effectively
✓ Exfoliating 24 hours before your appointment can help lift any hairs that may be trapped under dead skin in the areas you are planning on having waxed. (BODY ONLY)
✓ Avoid applying lotions or oils the same day of your wax appointment. (BODY ONLY)
✓ Clients who are prone to breakouts should come with clean, make-up free skin to their appointment. (FACE ONLY)
✓ Staying hydrated regularly is good for over all health, but can also help the skin respond better to waxing services.
✓ No tanning for 48 hours before your appointment. Please plan on scheduling spray tans at least 24 hours after your waxing appointment. Waxing after spray tanning can lead to loss of color in the areas being waxed.
✓ Assuming you have no allergies, you can take ibuprofen or advil 30-45 minutes before your appointment. Most clients do not need to do this as the services are usually completed in 10-15 minutes and the pain is minimal. It is an option for new clients who are worried about their pain tolerance.
✓ If it is your first time waxing, it is recommended to schedule your appointment a few days prior to any big events, vacations, photography, etc.
✓Avoid applying heat to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours. This includes hot baths, sauna, and steam.
✓Use an anti-acne lotion for face, back and chest following the treatment and twice a day until breakouts are gone. Use only an anti-acne product recommended by your skin care professional.
✓Avoid suntanning for 12 to 24 hours. This includes any strong ultraviolet (UV) light exposure or tanning bed treatments.
✓Avoid applying highly fragranced products to the waxed area. This includes, perfume, scented body lotions, anti-perspirants, cosmetics, or feminine hygiene sprays. Only use professional products, recom- mended to you by the skin care therapist who performed the waxing service
✓Avoid using harsh abrasive or exfoliates in the waxed area. However if you are prone to in-grown hairs, the day after your waxing treatment, exfoliate newly waxed area with a loofah to avoid future problems.
✓Avoid applying high SPF sunblocks to the waxed area for 12-24 hours after the waxing service. Sunscreen chemicals can be irritating to the newly waxed skin. This includes self-tanning products and tan accelerators.
✓Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates that the hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off, as in shaving. This is the reason that professional waxing lasts so much longer.
For best results, repeat your professional waxing every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate.
If you have any questions about your waxing service or after care at home, please do not hesitate to call your skin care therapist.
✓ If you are taking anti-biotics or acne medication.
✓ Use of skin peeling, skin thinning preparations.
✓ Varicose Veins.
✓ Underarms: Mastitis.
✓ Skin disorders or diseases, such as bruising or recent haemorrhage, Scar tissue (especially recent).
✓ Warts, Moles and skin tabs (area can be avoided).
✓ Fractures or Sprains.
✓ Diabetes - some people with diabetes have skin that is very slow to heal. The skin will be watched closely to make sure it does not over react to treatments.
✓ Sensitivity test may be conducted.
✓ Use of tanning beds 24 hours prior to waxing.
✓ If you are receiving cancer therapy (chemotherapy or radiation).
✓ Menstruation does not prevent you from waxing, however, your skin may be more sensitive.
✓ If you are pregnant, using oral contraceptives or hormone replacement your skin may be more sensitive to waxing, so it's best to have a patch test (like a small area on your arm) and see how your skin reacts for 24 hours before getting an entire eyebrow or leg wax.
✓ If you smoke or have Rosacea waxing can irritate dilated capillaries (weak or broken blood vessels) which are commonly found on people with Rosacea and smokers. If the capillaries are very red, stay away from waxing in that area.
✓ Stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol in your system can cause skin to be extra sensitive to waxing, meaning you could get more red or inflamed than usual. Give yourself a couple hours after drinking coffee or alcohol before getting waxed.
✓ You might be affected if you use powerful exfoliators on your skin. Salicylic acid (found in some toners or skin clarifyers), alpha-hydroxy acid, white willow bark, white willow bark extract and enzymes all strip cells from the skin. It's all too much exfoliation combined with waxing, and could make skin red, bleed or even scab over. So stop use of these products in the area getting waxed for at least three days before, and three to four days after waxing. (Depending on the strength of the product and the type of skin you have the safe wax wait time may be much longer before and after. If the alpha-hydroxy is over 8% then you may have to wait months before safely getting waxed.)
